Dubai Scooter Repair: 5 Shops Tested (Honest Cost + Quality Breakdown)
We broke a Xiaomi M365 scooter. On purpose. Dead battery, bent wheel, fried charging port.
Then we took it to 5 different repair shops in Dubai. Same problem. Different diagnoses. Wildly different prices.
Here’s what they quoted, how long it actually took, and which one fixed it right the first time.

The Test: One Broken Scooter, Five Shops
The scooter we used:
- Model: Xiaomi M365 (most common in Dubai)
- Problems: Won’t charge (dead battery), wobbles when riding (bent front wheel), charging port corroded
- Age: 2 years old, typical Dubai sand/heat damage
We called each shop. Described the problems. Booked appointments. Brought the scooter in.
Here’s what happened.
Quick Comparison Table
| Shop | Location | Quote | Turnaround | Quality |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Service Center | Al Quoz | AED 850 | 18 days | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Deira Electronics Guy | Deira | AED 320 | Same day | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Dragon Mart Repair Kiosk | Dragon Mart 2 | AED 280 | 2 days | ⭐⭐⭐ |
| Mobile Repair Service | Comes to you | AED 450 | Next day | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ |
| Bike Shop (Cycle Hub) | JLT | AED 600 | 5 days | ⭐⭐⭐ |
Shop #1: Xiaomi Official Service Center (Al Quoz)
Xiaomi Authorized Service Center
Location: Al Quoz Industrial Area 3
Phone: Available on Xiaomi UAE website
What they quoted:
- Battery replacement: AED 550 (genuine Xiaomi part)
- Front wheel replacement: AED 200
- Charging port cleaning + seal: AED 100
Turnaround time quoted: 10-14 working days
Actual time: 18 days (Ramadan delays)
The experience:
Professional intake. They ran full diagnostics. Gave itemized quote. Battery was genuinely dead (tested it). Wheel was bent (showed us on alignment tool). Port had water damage.
Three weeks later, scooter came back. Perfect. Genuine parts. 6-month warranty on repairs.
They refused to use aftermarket parts even when we asked. “Company policy.” Fair. But it means you’re paying premium prices every time.
Shop #2: Deira Electronics Repair Guy (Murshid Bazaar)
Unnamed Electronics Shop (Deira)
Location: Murshid Bazaar, near Deira City Center Metro
Phone: No official number, walk-in only
What they quoted:
- Battery replacement: AED 250 (aftermarket compatible)
- Wheel straightening: AED 50 (didn’t replace, just bent it back)
- Port cleaning: AED 20
Turnaround time quoted: “Come back in 3 hours”
Actual time: 4 hours same day
The experience:
No appointment needed. Walked in. Guy didn’t speak much English. Pointed at scooter. Pointed at battery. “250.” Pointed at wheel. “50.” Done.
Came back 4 hours later. Scooter worked. Wheel still slightly wobbly but rideable. Battery was aftermarket (worked fine, no issues after 2 months of testing).
Zero warranty. If it breaks next week, you’re paying again. Also, aftermarket battery quality varies. Ours worked. Your mileage may vary.
Shop #3: Dragon Mart Repair Kiosk
E-Scooter Repair (Dragon Mart 2)
Location: Dragon Mart 2, near entrance 4
Phone: Posted on kiosk
What they quoted:
- Battery: AED 220
- Wheel: AED 60 (new wheel, generic brand)
- Port: Free with other repairs
Turnaround time quoted: 2 days
Actual time: 2 days (accurate)
The experience:
Small kiosk. Guy was helpful. Spoke good English. Diagnosed properly. Used generic parts (not Xiaomi-specific).
Battery worked but slightly lower capacity than genuine. Got 22 km range instead of 30 km. Wheel was fine but different brand (cosmetically doesn’t match).
You have a premium scooter (Dualtron, Kaabo, etc.). They only stock generic parts. Also, no way to verify part quality before installation.
Shop #4: Mobile Repair Service (Comes to You)
Mobile E-Scooter Repair Dubai
Location: Mobile service (WhatsApp booking)
Contact: Search “mobile scooter repair Dubai” on Instagram/WhatsApp
What they quoted:
- Battery: AED 300
- Wheel: AED 100
- Port: AED 50
- Service call fee: Waived for repairs over AED 300
Turnaround time quoted: Next day appointment, on-site repair 1-2 hours
Actual time: Came next morning, finished in 90 minutes
The experience:
Booked via WhatsApp. Guy came to our office. Brought parts with him. Fixed it in our parking lot.
Quality was good. Used aftermarket parts but better quality than Dragon Mart. Gave 1-month WhatsApp warranty (“message me if problems”).
Negotiate if booking multiple repairs. We got AED 50 off by mentioning we run a shop and would refer customers.
Shop #5: Regular Bike Shop (Cycle Hub, JLT)
Cycle Hub (Jumeirah Lakes Towers)
Location: JLT, Cluster T
Phone: Listed on Google Maps
What they quoted:
- Battery: AED 450 (ordered from supplier)
- Wheel: AED 120
- Port: AED 30
Turnaround time quoted: 3-5 days (waiting for parts)
Actual time: 5 days
The experience:
Nice shop. Professional. But they primarily do bicycles. E-scooters are a side service.
Repair quality was fine. Parts were mid-range (not genuine, not cheap generics). But they clearly don’t specialize in scooters.
They misdiagnosed the wheel first. Said it needed full replacement. We pointed out it was just bent. They fixed it for less. Know your problem before you go.

Which Shop Should You Choose?
Depends on your situation:
Choose Xiaomi Official if:
- Scooter is under warranty
- You want genuine parts only
- Budget isn’t tight (AED 800+)
- You can wait 2-3 weeks
- You want 6-month repair warranty
Choose Deira Guy if:
- Scooter is out of warranty
- You need it fixed today
- Budget is AED 300-400 max
- You’re okay with aftermarket parts
- Scooter is 2+ years old anyway
Choose Mobile Service if:
- You don’t have transport
- You’re busy (work from home)
- Mid-range budget (AED 400-500)
- Want convenience > cheapest price
Skip Dragon Mart if:
- You have a premium brand scooter
- You care about part quality
- Battery range matters to you
Use them only for generic brands or cosmetic fixes.
Common Repair Costs (Dubai Average)
Based on our testing across all 5 shops:
| Repair Type | Official | Independent | DIY Parts Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery replacement | AED 500-700 | AED 220-350 | AED 180-280 |
| Charging port | AED 150-200 | AED 50-100 | AED 30-50 |
| Tire replacement | AED 120-180 | AED 60-100 | AED 40-70 |
| Brake adjustment | AED 80-120 | AED 30-50 | Free (DIY 10 min) |
| Motor replacement | AED 800-1200 | AED 400-700 | AED 300-500 |
| Display/controller | AED 300-500 | AED 150-280 | AED 100-200 |
If total repair cost exceeds 60% of a new scooter’s price, just buy new.
Example: Battery + motor repair = AED 900. New Xiaomi M365 = AED 1,200. Buy new.
Red Flags: When to Walk Away From a Repair Shop
We’ve seen some sketchy practices. Watch for these:
- “Needs full diagnostic fee before quote” → Legit shops quote for free after visual inspection
- “Must replace entire motor assembly” when only controller is broken → Upselling
- “Parts must be ordered from China, 6 weeks” → Most parts available locally in 2-3 days
- Won’t let you see the scooter during repair → What are they hiding?
- “No warranty, all sales final” on major repairs → Even Deira guy gives informal 1-week warranty
- Pressure to decide immediately → Good shops let you think/compare quotes
Questions to Ask Before Committing
Don’t just hand over your scooter. Ask these first:
- “What exactly is broken?” → Make them show you, not just tell you
- “Are you using genuine or aftermarket parts?” → No wrong answer, just know what you’re paying for
- “What’s the total cost including labor?” → Avoid surprise “labor fees” at pickup
- “How long will it take?” → Get specific days, not “soon”
- “What warranty do I get on this repair?” → Even 1 week is better than nothing
- “Can I see the old part after replacement?” → Confirms they actually replaced it
DIY vs. Professional: When to Do It Yourself
✓ Safe to DIY:
- Tire replacement (solid or pneumatic)
- Brake adjustment
- Handlebar grips
- Fender/mudguard
- Phone mount installation
- Cleaning charging port (compressed air only)
✗ Don’t DIY (Get Professional Help):
- Battery replacement (fire risk if wrong)
- Motor repair
- Controller/BMS work
- Internal wiring
- Anything involving the battery pack internals

Insurance: Does It Cover Repairs?
Most e-scooter insurance in UAE doesn’t exist yet (as of 2026).
Some home contents insurance policies might cover theft but not mechanical repairs.
We checked 5 insurance providers. None offer e-scooter-specific coverage in Dubai yet.
Your options: Self-insure by setting aside AED 50/month for eventual repairs, or buy extended warranty from seller at purchase (rarely worth it).
Our Recommendation: The Tiered Approach
Here’s what we tell our customers:
Scooter worth AED 2,500+ (Dualtron, Kaabo, etc.):
- Use authorized service only
- Genuine parts matter at this price point
- Warranty preservation is worth the premium
Scooter worth AED 1,000-2,500 (Xiaomi, Ninebot, etc.):
- Under warranty → Authorized only
- Out of warranty → Deira/independent shops
- Major repair over AED 600 → Consider buying new instead
Scooter worth under AED 1,000 (generic brands):
- Always use cheapest option (Dragon Mart, Deira)
- If repair costs over AED 300 → Buy new scooter
- These scooters aren’t built to last anyway
Final Verdict: Our Top 3 Picks
🥇 Best Overall: Deira Electronics Guy
Fast, cheap, works. AED 320 vs. AED 850 for nearly identical result.
🥈 Best for Warranty/Peace of Mind: Xiaomi Official
If you can afford the price and time, you get genuine parts and 6-month warranty.
🥉 Best for Convenience: Mobile Repair Service
Worth the AED 100-150 premium if you’re busy or can’t transport scooter.
